The surplus lines market provides coverage for risks that are not able to be placed with admitted carriers, thus allowing the underwriter the flexibility to set the necessary terms and rates to make the risk acceptable to the carrier.
This course provides an overview of the surplus lines market and prepares the licensee to find solutions for unique risks in a compliant manner that is acceptable to both the policyholder and insurance carrier. Risks commonly insured in the surplus lines market, carrier policyholder surplus and financial strength, alternative risk management financing techniques, and surplus lines licensing, taxes and due diligence will also be discussed.
